Brief Introduction of Department of Radiation Oncology at Taizhou Hospital
Taizhou Enze Medical Center is one of the largest medical centers in Zhejiang Province of China that provides medical care, teaching, research, and preventive medicine to Taizhou district. It consists of five well-established hospitals: Taizhou hospital of Zhejiang Province, Taizhou central Hospital, Luqiao Branch of Taizhou Hospital, Enze women and children¡¯s Hospital, and Enze Hospital. Taizhou Hospital is an affiliated hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and a teaching hospital for the Medical School of Zhejiang University. Our Radiotherapy Center at Taizhou Hospital was set up in 1974 and is currently the largest provider of radiotherapy services in Taizhou City at Zhejiang Province with access to a diverse range of treatment modalities. We aim to be a Center of excellence providing high quality cancer care where patients can receive the best possible management.
There are 5 consultants, 8 oncologists, 3 physicists, 10 therapy radiographers, 22 nurses covering all categories. The Center treated about two thousand and five hundred patients a year and has capacity of 93 inpatients. Our radiotherapy equipment includes Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator, GE discovery CT machine, HDR afterloading radiotherapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Tumor Thermotherapeutic Machine (SR1000), three dimensional conformal radiotherapy, and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy£¨SRT£©.We enjoy collaborative partnerships inside and outside of our Medical center. Besides providing radiotherapy, chemo-radiotherapy concomitant therapy, thermal therapy and palliative care services, the Department of Radiotherapy acts as the impetus for the development of Radiotherapy and Oncology in Taizhou City.
The clinical service is enhanced by our research program.We set up our Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Radiation Oncology and have a state-of-the-art radiation oncology research group. Our research interests include, but are not limited to clinical and translational research on nasopharyngeal, esophageal, lung and cervical cancer, radiation injury and dose adjustment during radiotherapy.We publish our research results in international journals such as Int J RadiatOncol Biol Phys., Radiother Oncol, annually.
