Brief Introduction
The department of radiology at the Taizhou hospital established in 1947 is a highly specialized, full-service department which strives to meet all patient and clinician needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies. Our clinical faculty comprised of 60 physicians performs over 300,000 diagnostic studies and therapeutic procedures each year. Since 2005, the department was classified into several radiology divisions including neuroradiology, thoracic Imaging, cardiovascular imaging, abdominal radiology, muskuloskeletal radiology, imaging technology, interventional radiology and so on. For about sixty years, the Department has been characterized by the strength of its academic leadership, the continuing effort to advance the educational, research, and clinical frontiers of the radiology discipline, and on-going organizational evolution and resource development to ensure that it is optimally structured and equipped to meet present and future medical and scientific challenges. It is recognized as a leader and the most important clinic department in Taizhou radiological diagnosis, interventional therapy, radiological education and research.
Research Programs:
Specialists in the radiology department conduct imaging studies of the CNS, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and muskuloskeletal imaging, performing CT and MR angiography, image-guided biopsy studies and therapies. The department's equipments consists of
1.5T superconducted Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) scanners, high-field open MRI scanners, Multi-detector Computed Tomography(MDCT) scanners, digital gastrointestinal machine, CR, DR, traditional X-Ray machines and Dual energy X-Ray Bone density machine. These state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanners offer enhanced spatial and contrast resolution for better visualization of internal structures. Today, many organs, functions, and areas that used to be hidden from view can now be imaged and studied in-depth with new radiological procedures, equipment, and technology. It is of great benefit to patients. In some cases, earlier diagnosis dramatically improves the patient's chances of recovery. In other cases, radiologic procedures eliminate the need for exploratory surgery, thus reducing risk, recovery time and expense. In the late five years, 11 scientific research projects were carried out in radiology department financed by the local government. Several awards for its work in radiology were acquired and more than 40 articles were published in medical journals.

Dr. Fan was named Vice Chair of the Department of Radiology in April 2004. He is an Associate Professor of Radiology and received the degree of master of medicine imaging and nuclear at Tongji University in 2002. He has conducted extensive research of imaging diagnosis and interventional therapy, published more than 20 journal articles and has been the recipient of the third grade awards of medicine innovating in Zhejiang province for his work in interventional therapy. He also has research interests in Molecular imaging and interventional Radiology.
